ISLAM, MUSLIM AND DEEN
Submission to the facts (وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ) (9:33) (48:28) (61:9) is Deen. ISLAM is a peaceful submission (Deen) to the Maliki Yaumi Deen (1:4).
The term إِنَّ الدِّينَ عِندَ اللّهِ الْإِسْلاَمُ means - Indeed the submission (DEEN), in the sight of Allah is transformation to peace and security (ISLAM) - (3:19) - The essence of Deen is contributing back to Nature what we have consumed.
It is ingrained in so called Muslims that Islam is the only accepted religion. But they are not aware that Islam is not a religion but a way of life and that way of life is to be continuously contributing back to what we have received from Nature; this is the crux of Deen. Those who believe that Islam is a religion are victims of this wrong concept. And people that are not religious are free and call themselves liberal without realizing the burden liability called Deen. "Muslims" believe Islam as the only true or god chosen religion but sadly they even don't know the responsibility of being a Muslim. They see others as non believer although they are more peaceful, sound, responsible and tolerant than the followers of "religion of peace". The wrong interpretation of Quranic words like qatal, jihad and harab are making the matter worst.
In short Deen simply means to submit, obliged for the favors bestowed by our Owner on us and to be concerned 24x7 how to repay or return those favors back to Him with gratitude. This sense of deep concern or obligation on how to repay or relinquish the debt or favor of the Owner (Malik) is Deen.
Deen is the system on which one should spend his / her life. Always keeping in mind that we owe our survival to Maliki Yaumi Deen (Owner of the borrowed moments).
The Deen with Allah
is Islam (3:19) (3:85) (5:3) (6:125) (39:22) (42:13) (61:7) … We may label it as
Sunni, Shia, Wahabi or Sufi or any other belief or way of life or any Mazhab of
our choice… But the fact is, only ISLAM will be accepted as the Deen according
to the book Quran. Al-Quran (114 chapter book) is the only accepted and valid
document for all “Muslims”.
The root word of
Islam is sīn lām mīm, the basic meaning of which according to lexicons
is to become safe, free, secure, sound or to become free from all kind of evils /
defects / imperfection or vice. The greeting or salutation As-Salam is a
short prayer for safety and security or, freedom from evil and Salim
means sound of mind; all derivatives of sīn lām mīm.
The word Islam is a
verbal noun (Form IV) – This pattern is
similar to form II in that it makes intransitive verbs transitive, and
transitive verbs doubly so. This verb form IV indicates that the word
Islam is a state of being; existence, living entity which should be adapted or
we must be transformed into that state (2:112).
THE WORD MUSLIMUN is an active participle derived from the same root word as Islam. It is an active participle noun (form IV) based on the paradigm of أَفْعَلَ - Muslim is not a name of a community but a state of those are in peace and soundness. The word salim سَلِيمٍ [sound] is also one of the derivative of word Islam and Muslim.
