SURAH 112 AL-IKHLAAS #

CHAPTER 2 – UNDERSTANDING ALLAH THROUGH SURAH TAUHID

Surah 112سورة الإخلاص - سورة التوحيد

Al-IKHLAAS / AT-TAUHID - SINCERE / PURE / UNITY / ONENESS

INTRODUCTION:

The commonly held belief by the Muslim traditional scholars is that this surah (chapter) is equivalent to 1/3rd of the book Quran. And whoever recites this surah three times, he...instantly gets the reward of completing the entire book. But when we ask them the basis of their tall claim, they would say - their holy books or scholars says so. The book of one's faith or belief cannot be a piece of evidence; actually the interpretation of these books are based on particular beliefs, assumptions, speculations or simply copied from their respective predecessors. People of all faiths, have their own esteem books of faith / beliefs and each book of faith is dear to each one of them. We cannot derive the conclusion on the basis of these books of faith or beliefs, as everybody will submit their own "holy books" as proof of evidences. With due respect to all holy books, but the teachings of any holy book can only be accepted if its teachings are universally applicable or accepted just like any other subject of science and mathematics.
.
The statement of the traditionalists, that surah 112 is equivalent to 1/3rd of the the book Quran can only be true, when the crux of this chapter is conceived in its true sense. But sadly, even the "scholars" have failed to decipher this very important surah in its right perceptive. We will analyze this surah in detail, as it's a very significant surah and needs analytical attention. The correct understanding of this surah will have a tremendous impact on our future thinking processes especially for “Muslims”.

The “muslim traditionalists” also claim that this chapter is a yardstick to recognize "God / Allah". The people too blindly follow their version that this surah is the definition of Allah, the “Muslim God”. But Allah is not a “God” or a Deity according to Quran. It is portrayed by the traditional translators, as "a divine personality”, who takes decisions on the basis of the magnitude and sincerity of rituals done by "His worshippers". He cannot be compared or imagined as any personality who “neither gives birth nor was he begotten". Allah / Rabb / Rehman can only be understood through their attributes and can be experienced by our senses. Actually one word or any linguistic analysis cannot define Allah/Rab/Rehman, if it has to be understood it has to be understood through proper context or understood through sensible / deliberate knowledge.

MY CONCEPT OF ALLAH AND ILAH IS DIFFERENT FROM THE RELIGIOUS CONCEPT OF GOD:

Below are so many verses which clearly emphasizes again and again that Allah is not a god or deity. The one to whom we worship / serve or adore is our ilah. Neither Allah is a proper noun of ilah because Quran says there is no God so the question of bigger or smaller god does not arise. We cannot compare Allah with anything. The thing which control us is our ilah, e.g for some money, name, fame, power are their ilah. Allah and ilah are two different words are not derivatives of each other. Allah is not a bigger or proper noun of ilah. Allah is incomparable.

2:255 اللّهُ لاَ إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ

The status / position of Allah [اللّهُ]is not of ilah [god] except He.....

3:2 اللَّهُ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

The status / position of Allah is not of ilah [the one which we serve or adore / deity] except / but Him [Rabb], the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence.

3:18 - 3:62 - 4:87 - 6:102 - 7:158 - 9:31 - 9:129 -11:14 -20:8 - 20:14 -20:98 - 23:116 - 27:26 - 28:70 - 8:88 - 35:3 - 37:35 - 38:65 - 39:6 -40:62 - 47:19 - 59:22 - 59:23 - 64:13 -

The above verses are clear cut statements that Allah is not a god / ilah, deity or one to whom we worship / serve or adore. Neither Allah is a proper noun of ilah because the book Quran says there is no God so the question of bigger or smaller god does not arise. The book is categorically rejecting all gods / God. In Islamic philosophy we cannot compare Allah with anything. The book Quran is not about an exclusive Dictator God or a sneaky evil Satan competing to control human beings but it describes the human behavioral pattern with the help of different parables.

I do not subscribe to such interpretations which make no sense but mockery of the message and convey no lesson worth heeding. How such interpretations can define Allah? When we ask the "scholars", about the basis of their claims it will be the same answer again; that their books and the ancestral translations support this view that Allah is one proper God and ilah is a small insignificant god. They have taken Allah as a proper noun of ilah, not realizing that they are actually acknowledging Allah to be a bigger Deity than ilah, thus comparing Allah with smaller gods (ilah). According to “Islamic theology” to compare anything to Allah is the greatest sin, then how can they compare ilah to a bigger ilah that is Allah? Treating ilah as a smaller god than Allah is clear “blasphemy”, just like in the case of the phrase “Allah O Akbar”.

Contrary to popular belief, the word Allah is not a definite article of ilah (al meaning 'the', and ilah meaning 'god' = al-ilah and not Allah). Had it been so, then the expression ya Allah ('O Allah!') would have been ungrammatical, because according to the Arabic language when you address someone by the vocative form ya followed by a title, the al ('the') must be dropped from the title. For example, you cannot say ya ar-rabb but must say ya rabb. So if the word Allah was al-ilah ('the God'), we cannot pronounce ya Allah but grammatically it would be ya lah as al should be dropped when adding ya.

Allah o Akbar – Grammatically analyzing “Akbar” – The word Akbar (bigger) is used as comparative degree and it cannot be used to describe the state of Allah. In fact Al-Kabeer has already been mentioned in the Quran to describe Allah. Al-Kabeer is an absolute degree, but due to lack of understanding by the traditionalists, the entire masses are conditioned to believe that “Allah is Akbar”, instead of “Allahu Kabeer”. We do not come across “Allahu Akbar” throughout the “Quran”. In verse 29:45 & 40:10 Allahi Akbar is mentioned, but not Allahu Akbar.  Akbar means bigger and Al-Kabeer means “The big one”. When the traditionalists are of the opinion that Allah the God is not comparable, yet they use the word that is of a comparative degree, by describing Allah as “Akbar” and treating Allah as a bigger god. If they are saying that Allah is Akbar, which means ‘bigger’, then it means they are accepting that there are other smaller gods / ilahs too, of which the bigger one is Allah. When they claim that Allah is incomparable then why are they themselves making such comparisons? They are clearly contradicting their own statements. It is indeed very regretful and I fail to understand how the Islamic Scholars have missed out on this important point. What an irony!

CAN WE SEE ALLAH?

According to one of the attribute of Allah present in the book Quran we can see Allah. We all are aware that Allah is Hidden / Invisible however we are not aware that the book Quran also mentions that Allah is clearly visible [الظَّاهِرُ] - The defender of monotheism will quickly say that this is blasphemy; they will reject the book Quran in lieu for their staunch belief. The apologetic among them will say that the word zaahiru indicates its "creation" but not "Creator." The word Zaahiru is used for the character / nature of Allah it has nothing to do with Its "creation." The word Zaahiru is nominative masculine active participle which indicate the state / quality of Allah.

هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

57:3 - He is the first and the last, and the Apparent/Visible, and the Hidden/Inside, and He has Full Knowledge of everything.

A very important attribute of Allah is الظَّاهِرُ [Apparent / Visible] - Has anybody seen Allah ? - This attribute clearly signifies that we can see Allah.

QURAN DESCRIBES ALLAH AS NAFS / SELF:

“…And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the [final] destination…”   (3:28)

Comprehend the sense of term Allah through understanding the word Nafs. The Quran has used many times the word Nafs for Allah

3:30, 5:116, 6:12, 6:54, 20:41 - The book Quran says Allah is Nafs.

وَاصْطَنَعْتُكَ لِنَفْسِي

"And I have manufactured/produce you for Myself – (20:41) - Here the book Quran says Musa was made for Allah's Nafs.

IS IT POSSIBLE THAT GOD CAN DIE ?

The book Quran says every Nafs / soul shall taste death [3:185] [21:35] [29:57] and the book Quran says Allah is Nafs / Self.

My intention is to before divulging on the main topic I would like to raise some valid questions in the readers mind about the term Allah and why I consider it as the system of consciousness.

 WHAT IS AL-IKHLAAS OR AT-TAWHEED?

Let us first analyze the titles of the chapter Al-Ikhlaas / At-Tawheed. The meanings of these titles indicate that this surah has something to do with sincerity, purity, oneness, unity, love or loyalty. Ikhlaas signifies purity, sincerity and fidelity and Tawheed signifies unity, oneness, alignment, synchronization and unison. I always wondered, how these headings of  the chapter co-relate with the "Allah” or “God”,the main message of this surahMuslims firmly believe that the entirety of the Islamic teaching rests on the principle of Tawheed but sadly "Muslims" are not aware what actually meant by Tawheed? They think tawheed means worshiping One God. We don't have to worship God or gods, we just have to continuously serve the system of consciousness without any break, to maintain its Purity and Oneness with our existence.

The word Ahadun indicates the quality of vast infinite nature of divinity which we cannot confine to only one textbook “God”. Thus different path is chosen to understand the Divine Existence but the philosophy of monotheism insist only on one path is correct and all other paths are condemned. Actually tawheed means unity of entire nature with us but we interpret it as singleness or exclusiveness of God thus separating that Living Entity / Energy from our own selves or existence. This is because the concept of Ahadun is not clear to us. Tawheed is a complete single package comprising of everything. Everything is interconnected to nature and we are not separate from It. Tawheed can only work if we don't separate Allah / God from us or any other being. If we separate Allah from our Nafs or think He is outside our body, it is tantamount to shirk as we are making Allah an object of worship by separating it from our own soul / Nafs. This goes against the concept of Tawheed [Oneness / Inclusiveness].

I always pondered why this surah is titled as At-Tawheed / Al-Ikhlaas when there is no mention of word for unity, sincerity, pureness, Unity, Oneness or loyalty in the entire surah, yet the surah carries these titles. As my understanding gradually evolved, I realized that there is definitely a valid reason and a link to it, as to why this surah has been titled as Al-Ikhlaas or At-Tawheed. The subject of this small but vital surah is Allah, but why these two titles? - Al-Ikhlaas or At-Tawheed? It is reported that initially surahs did not carry names on it but whoever gave the name of chapters / surahs very well knew the implication of surahs with the rest of contents of the surahs.

Does "Allah" mean "God”? If Allah is the author of the “Quran”, why would He mention His own Name and its attributes, more than 4000 times and eulogize it? Does any author do that? All these dangerous but valid questions began to pop-up in my mind. Would any author really do that or glorify himself in his own book? Nay, never! So why would a “God” do that? Thus I thought that the term “Allah” in the “Quran” is something far more valuable than what was generally conceived.

When I carefully studied the Kalimah- لا اله الا الله “La illaha ilal allah” it clearly states that there is no god / deity except Allah. But now the dilemma was that if there is no god then who is Allah?  The Kalimah clearly indicates that there is no god and it is silent about Allah. I then began to search for the contextual meaning of Allah throughout the Quran as I was not satisfied with the explanation given by the traditionalist that Allah is the proper noun of ilah a personified God.

After studying the entire Quran minutely, I realized that without - sincerity, purity, unity, loyalty and oneness, the word Allah is just a defunct term; having absolutely no significance in our lives, except that of blind worshiping. I cannot comprehend how this all important term "Allah", which apparently appeared several times in the entire "Quran”, has no literal worth except the "Utopian" belief of "God". Serving "God" without understanding Him, is tantamount to blind worship, even though if there is no physical presence of Him and this is very much evident in the practice of today’s Traditional Arab Religion.

To understand the message of the book Quran it is of utmost importance to understand why the term Allah is so significant and why obedience to Him is the main subject of the the book Quran? To gain maximum help from Allah in our lives, first we need to understand what Allah is, and why it is important to serve Him only? Why serving other than Allah is considered as the greatest sin? Traditional scholars insist that we cannot understand Allah and we should never make an attempt to understand Him. My dilemma is that if we cannot understand our Master [Malik], how the hell would we be able to serve Him? Isn't blind worship worse than Idol worship? Nevertheless the all important term ALLAH is neglected and ignored because the "authorities" insists that we must not think deeply about Allah. How can we understand the book Quran without understanding Allah? This was my biggest concern.

Now coming back to the title of the surah 112, we need to ponder as to why the title Ikhlaas / Tawheed is connected or linked with the subject "Allah"? After careful deliberation I have concluded that to have Allah in our lives we must be sincere, pure and work as a unit, with complete loyalty and cooperation. The significance of Tawheed simply means inclusiveness or unification of all but in Quranic sense it means we have to be one with Allah our own system of consciousness. If Allah is God then how can we become one with Him? There has to be something more important which the respected author of the Quran wants to draw our attention to. We can never be one with God if we believe that God is an object of worship and His place is either in the house of worship or in the sky. We cannot include God in our lives if we feel He is unique Personality unless we are god ourselves. As water and oil cannot merge and become one substance because they have different characteristics. Similarly we cannot merge with God, if we feel God is separate or different from us. But the name of the chapter is Tawheed/ Ikhaas. Tawheed means which cannot be divided. Now how would we going to justify the titles of this surah? The book Quran further says that Allah has made mankind in His own Nature [30:30], so connection, linkup, merger or union or inclusiveness is possible with Allah.

After analyzing the entire book Quran methodically I came to the conclusion that Allah is one of the system of our Rabb [Fountainhead / Consciousness] and we cannot include Allah in our lives  unless we have the same wavelength, frequency and conduct as fitrah of Allah [30:30]. The concept of Tawheed / Oneness is inclusiveness of all and becoming one with all. We are the part of the grand consciousness that constitutes of different cells, organism, planets and stars. Like for example the heart, eyes, kidney, brain, muscles and blood cells are the part of a single human body and they all should work in harmony towards attaining a desired goal. Similarly, Rabb / Allah are not separate from us but we are IT'S tiny organism in the shape of human body and each and everything is floating in the waves of grand system of consciousness. Humans don’t need any rituals to connect to IT. We have to make a connection and synchronize with it by shedding the artificial cover. This happens when our thought and work process gel together with the system of our consciousness [Allah]. Self realization is the initialization towards making a better connection with the system of consciousness which works on the principles of cause and effect. What you sow so shall you reap. Allah is certainly not a “God of seven heavens”. Yes we can incorporate the system of consciousness (Allah / Rabb) in us. The attainment of Bliss is by becoming ‘One’ with the system of consciousness. The sole purpose or crux of service [ibadat] is to do what Allah is doing for us. If we understand the essence of Ibadat we would be serving Nature wholeheartedly, an act of being human.

48:10 Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, - they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So he who breaks His word only breaks it to the detriment of himself. And he who fulfills that which he has promised Allah - He will give him a great reward.

Uniting with Allah is only possible if Allah is not supernatural God but a system of our own consciousness or is an encompassing unit. Aligning or integrating with the system of consciousness is the repetitive message of the noble Quran and it is important to be with the system of consciousness without which we will not be able to achieve the desired results. Allah in Quranic sense is the system of consciousness encompassing everything and It's presence in the human beings are in the highest volume. That's why human beings are the epitome among all other creations.

We will discuss Rabb in detail in the next chapter. Allah, Rabb, Rehman, Heart, Mind, Brain, Consciousness, Psyche, Spirit, Eyes Ears all these are not different entities but are constituents of a single body working under our own system of consciousness we recognize it as Allah. They have no individual identities or importance if they are not following the principles of Tawheed / Oneness / Totality / Inclusiveness / Integration. They can only be useful if they work in unison and become an integral part of a single body and function as a unit. We can serve the system better only if we understand it that we are the part of it and He is the part of us. This is the main essence of Ahadun.

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE ONE [TAWHEED] WITH ALLAH [THE SYSTEM OF CONSCIOUSNESS]

The concept of Oneness [Tawheed] is the main unification force of consciousness that transcends all religions, all cultures, class based and national barriers, thus unifying all creations in the realm of one divinity, one humanity, one suffering, one love and one consciousness. Where all are sacred, important and deserve respect. In short everything is Divine. Individually we all are unique God particles [Ahad] and united we signifies oneness [Wahid], a force to reckon with.

Before we understand what is Oneness, let's first understand why oneness is Tawheed.
The root cause of all human anguish is the sense of disconnection or separation from the source. We are divided within ourselves. There is constant conflict in our mind trying to choose between the good and the bad, the right and the wrong, the perfect and the imperfect. Conflict in the mind leads to loss of useful energy. Where there is no energy, there is no joy; there is no love. You exist in a state of alienation from all life which leads to depression. This division is the source of all strife that exists between individuals, families, cultures, religions, nations and the root cause is self, the discontent nafs/soul. The only solution to all human problems and sufferings of human is to understand the state of Oneness or unification [Tawheed] through the concept of inclusiveness. The Oneness state is not a teaching to be practiced, an experience to be theorized; it can be only achieved through realization or contemplation on every aspect of life.

The Oneness is state of being. It begins by discovering oneness within one’s own selves. Oneness in the own mind/body, oneness in the family, oneness in society and oneness in the country, it doesn’t stop there. You also then discover oneness with the planet, Oneness towards all living things, oneness with the universe and of course finally in the process you become a valuable contributor with the Supreme Consciousness. The book Quran believe individual transformation leads to global transformation. Thoroughly educating yourself is the key to transformation. When we realize our role as a borrower we realize our Owner. The realization that we owe or belong to the mother nature force us to contribute and become part of the Oneness, the world seek to discover Oneness. Then the differences are solved. The state of Oneness is a blessing bestowed upon the seekers who sincerely participate in the various processes offered by the school called Life. The purpose of Oneness is to spread the spirit of Oneness and Love on the planet.

When studying deeply the context in the book Quran, I came to the conclusion that Unit Allah is a infinite system of different consciousness working at micro and macro levels based on cause and effect mechanism or a working unit which needs sincere collective consciousness of all individuals to integration, synchronization, bonding, alignment, cooperation, integrity and unity for its smooth functioning. For the sake of brevity and understanding the crux of overall matter I will use System of Consciousness for Allah in all my future citations. In Quranic context Allah is the System of Consciousness of our Rabb.

WHO IS ALLAH?

According to lexicons Allah means - a unity compromising of all the essence of existing things which exist by itself that is Natural. While understanding Allah we cannot just concentrate on the attribute Wahid, we must also understand the essence of Ahad in 112:1 and other attributes as well.

For the purpose of understanding I have chosen system of consciousness to represent the term Allah, although the definition of Allah can be more clearly understood by its various attributes in the entire book Quran. To attain oneness or tawheed with the system of consciousness it is important to understand or identify our own thought process before getting absorbed or integrated with the system. System of consciousness can be any; it can be a system of life at micro level or at macro level or any mechanism but in the context of the book Quran it should have the characteristics of Al-SAMAD. One of the important character of unit Allah is it is self sufficient system that benefits all without acquiring benefit for self. The word Al-Samad signifies 'On whom all depend and He depends on nothing'. The word Al-Samad in surah Ikhlaas / Tawheed clearly explains the essence of Allah. Allah is not a deity or a heavenly god who depends on our blind worship or a devotion to please Him. Allah is the System of our own consciousness which is with us 24x7 working in us. Allah or our system of consciousness does not carry any emotions of love, hate or revenge and neither does He work according to Its whims and fancies. He initially treat us like we are in the womb of our mother [Rehman] - He [Allah] functions according to the principles of cause and effect and untouched by any human emotions. As you sow so shall you reap is the basic principle on which Allah works - We get back whatever we put in - Returns are based on investment in commercial terms - This is the soul or mechanism on which Allah should be understood otherwise the entire existence of concept or phenomena of Allah would be idolatrous or based on sycophancy.

When the book Quran mentions hands or eyes of Allah, it does not discuss about “God’s” personality but it signifies sources, powers and insight of the System of Consciousness. When Quran mentions about loan to Allah [2:245, 57:11], it does not mean that “God” is in need of a loan but it signifies any system cannot run on its own as it requires contribution and service from its consumer. And when book directs us to serve Allah/Rabb it means to serve the consciousness [Rabb] [7:189] [13:16] [18:110] [21:92]. Service [Ibadat] does not mean that Allah needs our ritualistic worship but it means a system is a defunct system without the service from its own operators and we need to contribute our share in order to make it work. That's why it is said Allah helps those who themselves [8:53] [13:11]. When Quran says your ilah is one it does not mean Allah is your deity (2:163); it means mankind has only one common cosmos or Nature that all should serve with all the energy and agreement.

We must try to understand what Allah is and why associating anyone with Allah is the greatest sin or fault [4:48]. Is our god jealous of others? When Quran associates or equates Allah with Rasul (messenger), then "isn't that a greatest sin”? Why is the Quran emphasizing on Obeying Allah and Obeying Rasul [4:59] or emphasis that those who obeys Rasul has in fact obeyed Allah [4:80] - does this mean Allah and Rasul are on an equal platform? To find the answers to these question first of all it is very important for us to clear the concept of Allah, the most important, sacred and misunderstood term of the book Quran. If we sincerely want to understand the message of the book Quran in its true sense, it is of utmost importance to understand the spirit of the term Allah before harping on other topics. The actual meaning of Allah, Rabb, Rehman and ilah can only be deduced by understanding the whole context thoroughly and with an open mind. The right understanding of Allah will totally change our life and all our sincere work will become our worship / service.

Sincere obedience or service to the system of consciousness is actually pure obedience [Deen] of Allah and this leads to the attainment of a peaceful happy life. In short, for example "our operating systems or Server" is actually for the service of God [consciousness] and there is no other god or for that matter any smaller god or bigger god - لا اله الا الله. This is our "sacred slogan" known to us as the first part of Kalimah Shahdah. We should be sincere, loyal, and pure if we want to be one with the System of Consciousness [Allah], to which we are connected 24x7. A system has many parts or components which becomes a complete unit only if all the components integrate and work as a single team, or as one community. Allah is a System of consciousness encompassing [Wasi-un] in an infinite Unit and can be precisely understood within the context of the Quranic verses. The book Quran also emphasizes that the Rabb [consciousness] is our Allah; this means the system of our own Consciousness is our ultimate Judge or Nourisher who sees, knows our each and every action and delivers judgment according to it.

Allah is our infinite system which tends to help naturally without expecting in return any reward or praise [samad] and can be more precisely understood according to the context. Just for example sake only, supposes our digestive system is our Allah. We need to know our digestive system's needs and requirement for its better working. Then comes the obedience and devotion to it. Once we understand its mechanism we will know its do's and don'ts and we will able to serve and follow it in a better way. And the System will run naturally or without any hindrance or harm to us. This is why we should be obedient and serve our digestive system diligently as it is a part of us and we are connected to it. In this matter the obedience to our digestive system is our Deen. Same way if we understand our knowledgeable consciousness [رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ] we will be able to serve it in a better way. Serving our consciousness in a proper manner is for our own good. Faulty or mindless service of our infinite system of consciousness (Allah), can have adverse effect on us because we don't understand Allah before serving Him. Fallacious service to Allah is the cause of all mallady.

No man eats grass or rubber or wood because the guidance is embedded in the form of instinct or senses. The instinct or senses guide us. If at all we eat them the sense of our digestive system will not accept it, therefore we all naturally follow the guideline / voice of our own digestive system. The system would be unjust and will become polluted [mushirk] if we don't follow the script or guidelines of our digestive system. If we want to be healthy we don't have to check the the "holy scriptures" to know the will of “God” as everything is embedded in our own system of consciousness, a universal and absolute system applicable to all -In this case this is our “God” and the inherent messengers instructing us what is digestible or good for our system according to its script [Al-Kitab]. Any integrated system which fulfills the criteria of chapter (surah) 112 is Allah or System of Consciousness which we all should serve sincerely. Knowing the system is very important in order to serve it properly. Ritual approach to the system of consciousness (Allah) will not yield any result and this is evident in the action of majority and specifically "Muslim" community.

Same way our each and every mindless action can destroy our world or to be specific can destroy us. The system of consciousness Allah only helps those who help themselves. So we have to take care of our own system of consciousness as there is no other illah except Allah and He resides within us, outside us and encompasses everything. To treat everything with justice, respect and love encompassing them as one in an infinite unit is the main concept of being in oneness (Tawheed) with Allah or the oneness with the System of Consciousness.

The correct understanding of the keywords of the book Quran will change the entire message of the present interpretation of the book Quran. Blindly worshiping Allah is the greatest sin and the main reason for everybody’s downfall. The book Quran is very sincerely trying to make us understand what Allah is, but our beliefs in our ancestral teachings are so deep which causes the main hindrance in our progress. The result is that the teachings of the humble author of the the book Quran have taken the back seat as the old beliefs seemed more appealing to us. The main cause of our downfall is not understanding the term Allah in its true sense and hence not integrating Allah into our lives. Our life is empty without Allah’s presence which means we are not systematic. The opposite of Allah is Taghut [disorder].

My fundamental understanding of the phenomenon Allah rest on the correct understanding of the some important complementary attributes that is Wahid & Ahad, Al-Awal & Al-Aakhir, Az-Zahir & Al-Batin, Al Haq al mubin, Al-Latif & Al-Wasi.

Allah is Al-Wahid – 13:16, 39:4

Wahid means one – 2:6, 4:11, 21:108 and more

Allah is Ahad – 112:1

Ahad means anyone – 5:6, 9:6, 11:81, 72:22, 89:26, 90:7, 112:4 and more

Allah is not separate from us [50:16] [2:186]

Allah is All Encompassing (wasi-un) - 2:115, 2:247, 2:261, this means Allah surrounds everything and everything is inside Him.

Darul Aakhirah is with Allah [2:94]

THE LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF THE TERM ALLAH:

Allah is not a proper noun but a term used to describe a thing or to express a concept especially in a particular language or subject. Allah is an "Arabic" term used even before the advent of Islam. It is not a monopoly of "Islam". Bedouins, Jews, Christians and even Polytheists used this term long before the "Quran" was written. It was in their colloquial use. This term is a compound word,[ال + لا + له = [اللَّهِ -  Together it means there is nothing for Him, where ال stands for THE - LAAM with dagger alif becomes  لا which signifies no or nothing and له indicates for HIM.  AL is an article which means 'The' in English, and makes the word definite but as the word Allah is compound word AL is not a inseparable word. Laam has a shaddah and a dagger Alif on it. So laam with dagger Alif becomes لا which will be translated as nothing / no. - Lahu له is the personal pronoun in third person singular, which stands for ' For Him'The shaddah on Laam also indicates sign of emphasis. The term Allah can be defined as Nominative case, Genitive case and Accusative case.

Together (AL + LA + Lahu) becomes Allah, a complete compound term thus Allah became a single word. So by studying this entire nuance of the term, I concluded the literally meaning of Allah is THERE IS NOTHING FOR HIM = As-Samad and the next verse clearly describes or vindicates my understanding nuance of the term Allah in the first verse of surah 112, that HE IS THE AS-SAMAD [on whom all depend / nothing for Him]. Every entity depends on Him, He is free from all dependency and this tendency or phenomena can be called Supreme Consciousness, free from all wants or in other words nothing for Him. This is the reason why we don't find the root word of Allah; as Allah is not a simple word but a composite term with no derivatives. But some lexicographer is of the opinion that Allah is a definite article of ilah but then if Allah is a definite article then the word following that should also be a definite article but this not the case in verse 112:1 because AHADUN here is an indefinite article. The word Ahadun [anyone] is describing the quality of Allah. This proves that Allah cannot be a definite article of ilah. The word Ahad is an indefinite article which is defining the quality of Allah. Sorry I cannot digest that Allah is a bigger version of ilah.

It's a poor misconception to take root word of Allah as ilah (اله) - written as ال +اله - The word ilah means one who is served or adored or god and by adding AL we are unconsciously acknowledging that there are indefinite gods and that Allah is the definite version of smaller gods. It is a conjecture to deduce ilah as deity or god and Allah to be bigger God, just by adding AL to it. Although Allah is a composite term and that does not mean God but means the One infinite System, when we take every verse of the book Quran into account.

When I say the literal meaning of Allah is 'there is nothing for Him' this signifies everything depends on Him and He serves all thus He is called As-Samad which means on Allah everything depends and He requires nothing in return. If you serve Him it is for your benefit only. He is an indefinite unit [ أَحَدٌ] of Consciousness which is indispensable. Although every service is directed to Him only but He is not in need of it. There is nothing for Him [Allah] because whatever we do for Him is actually done for our benefit. He is Rehmaan and Rahim who does not need anything from us. When we serve Allah but in fact we serve our own consciousness so be careful and sincere in your service to your Rabb [Consciousness].

The readers are confused, as to who is this 'Him' referred to? Arabic has no neutral gender so Allah/Rabb is represented by Masculine pronouns. Allah is not a proper noun but a term or a symbol which signifies an infinite source of Power or Energy encompassing everything.

Having said these I will reiterate to make it clear that to understand Allah/Rabb/Rehman is a personal experience of senses rather than understanding it through grammar or lexicons although the 114 chapter book Quran is a tremendous help.

Wahid and Ahad are two different words with two different meanings and with two different root words. But we are being told by the grammarians that the word Ahad and Wahid are interchangeable. We are falling into the same trap in which our predecessors fell by believing in the nonsense of the grammarians. My dear readers how these two different words with altogether drastically different meanings can be interchangeable. Wahid and Ahad are both epithet of Allah, why they should be interchanged? I know the answer - It is only done to safe guard the belief of monotheism. Every expert linguist knows if they apply the correct essence of Ahad the entire belief of monotheism will perish. Think, ponder without fear and be honest.

FURTHER ELABORATION ON THE SYSTEM:

The systems all over the world are collapsing, as we are unable to understand the importance of the necessary ingredients required to operate the system. Those ingredients are -sincerity, purity, honesty, loyalty, unity, oneness, love and sacrifice - These interconnected ingredients are achieved through self realization. Without these ingredients the system (Allah) which I called system of consciousness cannot function, hence the heading of the surah [Ikhlaas / Tawheed] is justified. Some examples of the systems that suffer due to the lacking of these ingredients are – Our Consciousness, Family, Health, Education, Social, Neighborhood, Brotherhood, Society, Environment, Economical and Humanity at large. Rabb is a macro system of consciousness under which all these micro systems work. If all these micro system serve/work in integration with the macro system then it will be a true service or Ibadat towards the maintaining of balance of the infinite micro unit which we recognize as Allah.

Now the readers who are obsessed with the idea of worshiping of one God will object, that when Allah is one, then why have you categorized different systems as "Allah" ?- They may also object and question that, who gave you such powers to alter this centuries old belief of Allah being one or the unique ? Some may also accuse me of inclining towards Hinduism or Buddhism or Jainism or Sufism or Pantheism. But the truth is I have not studied any of these subjects - What is true for Hinduism or Buddhism or any ism should be true for all or vice versa. The truth should be a truth, no matter who represents it. There cannot be different sets of truths for different isms. Just as in mathematics, 2+2 = 4 - whether it is Vedic mathematics, Arabic math or Sumerian math of 2500 BC years ago, all have the same conclusion because it represents the truth and not mythological or arbitrary claims. The genuineness of the message can only be evaluated by the universal yardstick based on the principles of humanity, applied to measure all the isms. Actually the universality of the absolute message or the ability of any system to withstand any challenge like a solid rock and to reach every nook and corner of the globe without the benefit of self is referred to as As-Samad an Attribute of Allah.

If the any message which claims to be message for entire humanity and it does not cater the principles of humanity, then it is a fake or distorted message. Here, let me clarify before I am misunderstood, when I say that the message is distorted, I clearly mean that if the translated version provokes a person into wrong actions against humanity then it is definitely the mistake of the translators and its blind followers and not the message of the Quran. We owe the present disturbances and the isolation of the so called Islamic world from the rest of the world, all due to the wrongful interpretation of the Quran. Sadly it gives a pathetic picture of the ideologies of Islam. The blunders committed in interpreting the Quranic text, is wrongly attributed to the respected Messenger or Author and this Book, and it is the Quran that has to bear the brunt for the unjust actions of its followers.

The fact is that I have derived my strength and conviction from understanding the verse 112:1 in the right perspective. The understanding of this verse gave me immense courage to put forth this reality before you. The readers should also understand that Allah represents a whole Unit, and we all are its smaller parts or components or systems working under its ambit. To love Allah as a whole is not possible unless we love all its micro systems or components, this is the definition of Tawheed or Oneness/ unification. Loving only one child and ignoring our other family, friends, relatives or community is not love but nepotism. It is just like loving only one part of your body and ignoring the rest.

EXPLANATION OF THE CHAPTER:

Qul is a mental verb and is directly address to the listener [Al-Naas]Huwa is the pronoun which means "he is" or "it is". As the Arabic language does not have a neutral gender, I used 'He' instead of 'it', as we all familiar with reading of traditional translations. I have highlighted the change for understanding purpose. According to Arabic grammarian Zamirush Shan - (He) Huwa is used to express the importance of a thing, and when - 'He / It' is used in the beginning of a sentence it implies that it wants to draw the reader's attention, so as to be heard carefully or attentively.

Man’s belief is always acquainted with the idea of a personified single God, although Allah does not mean God and Ahad does not mean one or unique. The word for one is wahid in Arabic and for unique the Arabic equivalent word is fareed.

Here in this chapter an important announcement is made that ALLAH IS AHAD and not WAHID although Allah is also Al-Wahid we all know that [39:4]. It is extremely important to understand this small verse whose correct understanding will completely change the essence of Allah and the message in particular. This can make a huge impact on our understanding of the core message of the "Quran" and will affect our lives at large.

The traditionalists say that these four small verse define Allah. No doubt these verses define Allah thoroughly but the traditional translations shed no light on the word of paramount importance, i.e. ALLAH. Allah has many shades and it should be understood in the right perspective of the context, as discussed above. We cannot take the meaning of “Allah” as one super-duper deity or a bigger god.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Nowhere in the dictionaries have we found the correct meaning of Allah - Traditional translators have depicted Allah as God / divine entity possessing human emotions of love, anger, envy, happiness, revenge etc and someone who works on His Own whims and fancies. After studying the "Quran" thoroughly I stumbled upon the verse "QUL HO ALLAHO AHAD" and noticed that the word Ahad in the first verse is translated as "The One", but in same surah in verse 4 - Ahad is translated as "any" or "none", although in other places in the "Quran" it is translated as "anyone" or "any", I was startled to see this major discrepancy. I knew that Ahad does not mean one and the meaning of one is actually Wahid. If we have to say "The One" then it would be Al-Wahid -
الْوَاحِدُ   and not Ahad. The translators have conveniently ignored the lexicon meaning and Quranic morphology of the word, in lieu of traditional beliefs.

MEANINGS OF SOME DERIVATIVES OF احد (AHAD) FROM "QURAN" FOR YOUR PERUSAL:

2:136,180, 266, 285 - 3:84, 91, 91, 153 - 5:6, 115 - 6:61 - 9:4, 6, 84 - 15:65 - 18:19,22, 26, 38, 42, 47, 49, 110 - 19:26, 24:21, 28 - 33:39, 40 - 38:35 - 59:11- 72:27,22,20,18 - 112:4

COLLOQUIAL EXAMPLES OF AHAD:

لا احد فى الدار - There is not anyone in the house.

هل احد راى مثل هَـٰذَا - Has anyone seen the like of this ?

يا احد رآ ها - O has anyone seen her ?

ما بالدار من احد الا حمارا - There is not in the house anything except donkey.

سالم لم يدع أحدا - Salim has not invited anyone

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WAHID AND AHAD:

Some "scholars" say Wahid and Ahad are interchangeable especially when defining Allah. But Wahid and Ahad are two different words and altogether have two different root words and also have different meanings. Although they are very similar in meaning but they are not same. Wahid is a cardinal number, which means ‘one’ whereas Ahad signifies ‘any’ or ‘anyone’ or any unit, so how can they be the same? Some scholars interpret wahid as unique, but we already have a word for unique in Arabic and that is ‘fareed’. The interpretation of God as one or unique is influenced by other Semitic religions. Ahad also signifies unity, infinite wholeness and union. Itihaad (unity) is one of the derivatives of Ahad.

Al-Wahid is a nominative masculine singular adjective used as a definite character of Allah in 39:4 but we cannot ignore Ahad in 112:1 an indefinite character of Allah. To know the true essence of Allah we need to understand both the characters of Allah in its true essence, we just cannot ignore the word Ahad and consider it as interchangeable. If we do this we will be doing a great injustice to the Author of the book Quran and its noble message.

These above facts made me re-think about the concept of Allah. That was my moment of disbelief and dismay. I could not believe the findings and my heart was not ready to accept this discovery. I had two choices in front of me, either to reject the words of the Glorious Quran or face the fact that the Quran has used the correct word, which is Ahad, and not Wahid. It’s my childhood belief, that there exists only one God, and this childhood belief is preventing me from understanding this simple colloquial word. I had no choice, but to abandon my beliefs in lieu of the apparent facts. I was in a state of immense fear because I knew in my inner-self that this discovery would change the entire direction of the message, which was in fact simple and good but would be a headache to explain to the followers of the Traditional Arab religion.

Finally with conviction in my findings I decided to deduce Allah as an infinite system of consciousness which is easily accessible, absolute, can withstand any challenge like a solid rock and inclined to serve all, without expecting anything in return [Samad]. Sincere service [ibadat] to our system of consciousness (Allah) exclusively, is the only path towards success. Worshiping the system with different rituals will take you nowhere. The concept of worshiping any deity either visible or invisible, one or many is contrary to the teachings of the honorable author. The honorable author's sincere motive was to free mankind from the clutches of any "ism" or subjugation which promotes worship. Worship or reverence to any deity or ideology stops the progress of man and affects its freedom to think freely. Ism differentiates humankind on the basis of caste, creed, race and language which were against the teachings of the honorable messenger. Revering and serving our own consciousness is the main message of the Quran.

The reason why I have interpreted Allah as the system of consciousness is that every system contains inherent mechanism which have to be understood to operate the system smoothly. Understanding or being conscious or aware of the mechanism of the system is very important. If you want the system to work for you, serving the system sincerely is the only option, no amount of rituals or worshiping will assist you to fulfill your intended desire. The rule is that the system serves you back only if we rely and serve it sincerely. For that you have to be in the system and system should be in us. Separation of self from the system won't serve the system at all.

The other reason for selecting Allah as a system of consciousness is that it fits in the context of every verse, and the meaning is consistent throughout. The purpose of any system is to organize / control and at the same time gives complete freedom and flexibility in such a manner that the consequences are predictable. But the system by itself is nothing unless we fulfill its requirements. If we don't satisfy its needs it will become defunct. "Quran also endorses my views in the following words: "Therefore take care of Me, I will take care of you, and be thankful to Me and don't ignore Me". (2:152). Therefore the condition of receiving benefits from any system is that first we have to take care of the system and never forget about it and we have to be convinced with it, only then the system will take care of us or remember us. So friends don't believe in fairy tales - nothing is free, everything has conditions applied.

The system of consciousness Allah is a unit or an infinite unit with inherent requirements, which one must fulfill to gain optimum benefits out of it. It does not have the capacity to deliver on its own unless we contribute to its functioning as it is neither a father who nurtures, nor delivers naturally out of sense of duty. It only serves us as long as we fulfill its requirements. The respected author clarifies that the system Allah is not a human being, who craves or delivers things out of a sense of duty (112:3). It works on the principles of cause and effect - As you sow so shall you reap.

It is we who are in need of a proper system, if we want to succeed as a unit or a community. The system is exclusively for us. The system does not need us, it is we who have to follow the System and be a part of it. Tauhid in Quranic terms mean to be one or become one with the system of consciousness (Allah). Without alignment and synchronization and cooperation, no system can achieve the desired result. After discussing all that, I want to emphasis that the Allah of “Quran” mainly deals with our system of Consciousness.

MORE EXPLANATION ON AHAD:

Note every translator or interpreter have translated the meaning of AHAD in the verse 112:1 as the one or unique which is incorrect from the linguistic point of view and the "Quranic method of morphology (rattal and tasreef) of verses" as well. The meaning of any word in the Quran should be consistent throughout. Although the grammarians have termed ahad as nominative indefinite noun, ironically they have treated Allah as a nominative proper noun by translating it as "The One". There are 3 reasons behind intentionally committing this blunder- 1st that they could not perceive Allah other than one or unique because they think that their strong belief in monotheism or in “Abrahamic religion” would crumble. Second reason was that, they are very much influenced by some extra "Quranic" material such as Hadith and they don't want to let-go this belief. And the 3rd reason is that they cannot change the Arabic script, so why not change the translation as the general consensus supports the theory of One God. But they should understand that the universal "Quranic" message does not pamper or pacify any ideology or mythology. And it is not about gods or God. The teachings of the honorable Quran are not about blind obedience / worship / praising of God, but it is based on human psychology and evolution of mental perception of humans that helps in building happy and secure human beings which is must for any society or a nation.

If the respected messenger intended to explain the word Ahad as "the one" he would have used the word al-wahidالْوَاحِدُ  and not ahad أَحَدٌ. Note both these words have different root word and meaning. In this context the respected messenger is emphasizing on a larger role of Allah than what is commonly understood. The context of the verse 112:1 is not the definition of Allah, which is generally assumed as "God" to be worshiped. Qul hu Allahu Ahad talks about infinite systems of consciousness which fulfills the condition of Al-Samad. The Arabic word for God / god is إِلَٰهٌ, and ilah is not Allah. - ilah also means ideology, doctrine, ism, to be worshiped, adored, served, feared, held as god etc.

أَحَدٌ Ahad = Made it one, Unity, Indivisible, Any unit - Eleven is called احدعشر  (Ahad ashar) because it is a unit of two ones (11). Sunday's equivalent is يوم الاحد  (Yaumul ahad) because it is the day of union or congregation for Christians. Arabic is a Semitic language and was prevalent long before the advent of "Islam" and it was the colloquial language of Jews, Christian and Pagans of Mesopotamian culture.  Note Ahad is not a cardinal or ordinal number; it only signifies any complete system or a unit.

By using the word Ahad to define Allah, the noble Quran intends to explain a much larger role than what is perceived by the general masses. Allah has a vast connotation than the conventional belief of "invisible God". The conventional God needs praises or sycophancy throughout our lives to keep Him happy and pleased. This concept of “God” is actually biblical and our interpreters have just copied their version. The exact meaning of any word can only be deduced according to the context of the verse and the matter of the subject.

WHAT IS OTHER THAN (دُونِ اللّهِ) ALLAH ACTUALLY MEAN?

There are over many instances where this phrase دُونِ اللّهِ (duni allah) or دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ (dunihi aulia) is used.

The word دون basically means weak, low, base, inferior and vile. When this word comes with Allah or Aulia it means weak Allah or weak Aulia. If Allah is treated as God how can we use this word with Allah. Weak Allah will make no sense at all. If we believe Allah as a System of Consciousness then this word will make greater sense because system of consciousness can have weak level of understanding. But if the same word is attached with god it will make no sense as we cannot imagine God as weak. When duni Allah means weak system or weaker system of consciousness, then the entire verse will make sense. Please verify the meaning from the lexicons before believing.

                    *********************************************************************

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ هُوَ الرَّحْمَنُ الرَّحِيمُ

Allah is he who is not god, except the one who knows and testifies the unseen; He is Ar-Rehman, Ar-Rahim (The most self Nourishing, full of benevolence) – (59:22)

                         ************************************************

SOME CONTEXT WHICH DOES NOT FIT IF WE BELIEVE ALLAH AS GOD:

وَالَّذِينَ هَاجَرُواْ فِي اللّهِ مِن بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَلَأَجْرُ الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ16:41

How can anyone migrate in Allah? Is the above verse makes senseTHINK

22:78 وَجَاهِدُوا فِي اللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِ هُوَ اجْتَبَاكُمْ

How can anyone do jihad in Allah22:78 – 29:69, so better to change the meaning of preposition.

29:10 - وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ فَإِذَا أُوذِيَ فِي اللَّهِ جَعَلَ فِتْنَةَ النَّاسِ كَعَذَابِ

29:10 – How they can anyone suffer affliction in Allah

أَتُحَآجُّونَنَا فِي اللّهِ - 2:139 – يُجَادِلُونَ فِي اللّهِ – 13:13 – يُجَادِلُ فِي اللَّهِ - 22:8 -
22:3,  –

How can anyone do Jihad in Allah? This means Allah is system of consciousness in which we can struggle, fight and argue...and this we do on daily basis.

وَالَّذِينَ يُحَاجُّونَ فِي اللَّهِ مِن بَعْدِ مَا اسْتُجِيبَ لَهُ حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

42:16 - Those who argue / repair in Allah… How can one argue / dispute / quarrel / repair in Allah if you consider Allah as God? Allah is our own system of Consciousness.

ALLAH AS SYSTEM OF CONSCIOUSNESS:

The overall study of "Quran" compelled me to interpret Allah as the system of Consciousness. Every system contains inherent mechanism which have to be understood to operate the system smoothly. Understanding the mechanism of the system is very important. If you want the system to work for you, serving the system sincerely is the only option, no amount of superficial rituals or worshiping will assist you to fulfill your intended desire. The system serves you back only if we rely and serve it sincerely. In Quranic sense the System is our Consciousness [Allah] and we cannot live without our Consciousness, Allah is one of the attribute of Rabb to whom we all serve in order to live a peaceful life.

Consciousness is discernment life force. In easy and layman way it is also generally understood as mind. Consciousness can be found as one of a handful of synonyms for the mental force that animates the otherwise inert material body and soul.

In Buddhism, there are six sense bases refer to the five physical sense organs. They belong to the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, the mind (referred to as the sixth sense base) and their associated objects (visual forms, sounds, odors, flavors, touch and mental objects). Based on the six sense bases, a number of mental factors arise including six "types" or "classes" of consciousness. More specifically, according to this analysis, the six types of consciousness is the eye consciousness, [consciousness based on the eye], ear-consciousness, nose-consciousness, tongue-consciousness, body-consciousness and mind-consciousness [third eye or insight which in Quranic terminology we recognize as Basirah]

The pronoun HIM / HIS in the Quran doesn’t refer to God as a male or a person. The Arabic language does not have a neutral gender, that’s why it is using masculine gender pronouns to represent Allah or Rabb. It is a wrong concept to understand Allah as male entity, leading us to believe that Allah is an anthropomorphic character of Divine nature and it is needed to worship it as a deity. The traditional monotheists subconsciously perceive God as a man with human like emotions of love and jealousy and He works accordingly. This gender biased perception of God due to male dominated style of Arabic language has seriously affected many by so called long established commentaries of the Quran. This nature of Arabic as a male oriented language is misused by nincompoop or cunning “authorities of Islam” to suppress female followers of the Quran into subjugation.

The System Allah is an infinite unit which means we cannot confine it to only one energy or one single sky God. The presence of this unit of infinite power is present within every unit, in fact without the presence of this unit no unit can exist. We all are just a tiny cell of this magnificent unit. This great System does not require or depend on our individual services. It is for our own good or survival that the system has upgraded us in the line of evolutionary ladder. Thus we should comply with the inherent requirements, which one must fulfill to gain optimum benefits out of this mercurial System. According to surah 112 it does not have the capacity to deliver on its own unless we contribute to its functioning as it is neither a father who nurtures, nor delivers naturally. It only serves us as long as we fulfill its requirements. At the same time it is not dependent on us as He knows how to maintain the balance. The respected author clarifies that the system Allah is not a human being, who craves or delivers things out of a sense of duty or responsibility as a father does, and neither is Allah a single entity but it compromises infiniteness. Now another valid question arises, that if we believe the traditionalist that Allah is one, then why the "Quran" is using We for Allah - a plural pronoun? We cannot identify Allah as a cardinal number nor a royal entity but an infinite unit. An unit is made up of many elements which work in synchronization to attain any intended purpose. That's why at many instances in the "Quran" the word Allah or Rabb is represented by We. For example a company doing a business is represented by WE, a single entity, but consists of a number of individuals working for its success as a single team.

It is we who are in need of a system, if we want to succeed as a unit or a community. The system is exclusively for us. The system does not need us, it is we who have to follow the System and be a part of it. Tawheed means to be one or become one with the System (Allah). Without alignment and synchronization, no System will work. We are also a system interlinked with various other systems, and all these systems should work with a common goal to balance the larger system for our survival. This interlinking, cooperation, bonding of one system with another system or systems is called oneness [Tauheed]. Oneness means a body which is indivisible and acts as a whole.

To assume Allah as a deity of succor, at the time of need is childish. And to believe in such foolishness is an insult to our intellect. Allah does not help anyone, He only helps those who helps themselves (8:53 - 13:11). These verses also prove that there will be no help from Allah, unless we work sincerely. Performing any amount of rituals and offering lip-service is not going to yield any positive results.

The respected author has made a valid point by using the word Ahad after the word Allah, as he wanted to make it clear that Allah is an infinite Unit which does not have any numerical significance. Working as a unit, in unity, with unison is the secret to a peaceful life. The word Samad signifies a complete thing which can serve or withstand any challenge and is within the reach of everyone and is beneficial to anyone and in return it does not require anything except our sincere service which will be beneficial to us only. So samad means that Allah should be such a system which is accessible to everyone.  لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ - Lam yalid walam yulad  indicates that the system does not deliver anything, nor does it look after you as a father does, but can be followed by anyone.

We will only get back what we have credited into The System of Consciousness  - (2:245, 5:12, 57:11-18, 64:17, 73:20). The system of consciousness is functioning everywhere in fact we are a very small part of the bigger system which we are supposed to follow in unison. Hudoodu Allahi or limits and boundaries of system (Allah) mentioned in the Quran is a wider aspect of it.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

INTERPRETATION:

      قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

(1) Say: " He is anybody's System of consciousness [Allah]

 اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ
(2) The absolute System of Consciousness (on whom all things depends / there is nothing for Him - The Giver and not the Taker)

 لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
(3) (It) doesn't deliver and nor it procreates (evolution cycle does not creates

 anything)

 وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
(4) And (He) is not a being, anyone can follow Him / It.

COMMENTARY:

Allah is the term used for system of consciousness. Literally Allah means "nothing for himself". And As-samad (Self-Sufficient) is the quality of Allah and it defines the meaning of Allah in a nut shell. As-samad actually means on which one can rely however it does not deliver on his own accord nor it functions or works on emotions as being done by human beings. Nevertheless it can be followed by anyone who desire to follow it or desire to take benefit out of it.

Allah, Rabb, Rehman, Samad are phenomenal terms which we cannot be define in one word.

Definition of Allah through Surah Ikhlas

In 112:1 - Say Huwa is Allah ahadun - the essence of this verse is He / It can be anybody's conscience or anyone's conscience is Allah. Here the word هُوَ represents conscience.

The essence of verse 112:2 is that Voice of Conscience is Samad (Independent).

112:3 The Voice / Allah / Energy neither creates / produces / gives birth / begets nor is born / begotten.

The last verse 112:4 - And nor there is for  it / Him any comparison / equivalent.

The entire subject of the book Quran is inner self or conscience. The main subject of the book Quran is conscience of mankind and how the inner voices effects upon the thinking process and behaviour of individuals.  The entire life and death of human being is product of his / her own thought process.

The book Quran only instructs us that we give our sincere attention to observation, learn and seek knowledge in order to recognise and understand the cause, the source or the energy that effect us. The quality of our conscience drives us. A fake source or tempting energy is Satan and the factual or original source is Allah according to my humble understanding of the book Quran.

The book Quran has nothing to do with Imaginary Heavenly God but it is a book about our own strength and weakness. God is the Balancer of Human mind that we all must strive to keep sound and stable. An unstable or an unsound God is Satan. The entire message of the book Quran is to understand the God and it's Kingdom inside us and not outside. There are no two powers inside us, Satan and Allah are two sides of the same coin. Good and Evil are not two different powers or energies but two extreme part of the same scale. We become what we feed.

Our evolutionary journey is from small alphabet g to the capital alphabet G of God. We the small g is never separate from the big G, they are units of the same scale and have a strong connection with IT. The book Quran refers to Allah with capital A and allah with small a too, just like a drop 💧 and Ocean 🌊, they are not separate but One and the Same.

BENEFITS OF UNDERSTANDING ALLAH AS ANYONE (AHAD):

There is no harm in perceiving Allah as anyone except that our concept of blindly worshiping a single theist would be shattered. The basic cause of all the quarrels in the world is due to disunity. And the cause of disunity is due to the absence of love, respect, purity, honesty, loyalty, sincerity, cooperation and oneness. We fail to see humanity as sacred, possessing the same behavioral pattern of correction (Ummat-e-Wahidah) and this is because we are divided by ideologies of vested interests and religion. This division of humanity segregated into various groups of worshipers, which has to be reverted back into the fold of humanity with the universal philosophy of TAUHID, ITIHAAD, IKHLAAS, KHULOOS AND MUKHLIS (ONENESS, UNITY, PURITY, LOVE AND COOPERATION).

We wrongly believe that worshiping blindly and without questioning, are sufficient enough to please "Allah" and that "Allah" will take care of our responsibilities. Allah is not a imaginary god or goddess who need appeasement but is a real system of Consciousness who is Aware and Knowledgeable. We can fool a deity by superficial rituals and "services." But service to Allah is actually service to us and humanity at large. We don't serve ourselves or the society but we are ahead of all in serving a imaginary God or gods. This is the biggest hurdle which mankind is facing today. The respect of religious contractors is far more valuable than the respect of an ordinary servant of humanity. People take pride in calling themselves as servant of God. Humanity and Moral science have just been confined to ordinary school curriculum only.

WHO IS RABB ?

I would like to add some elaboration on Rabb, although it has nothing to do with the above surah, still it would serve a larger interest of the explanation. In Arabic language derivatives of Rabb are also used for - Housewife = Rabbathul Baith, Rabbul Baith = Head of the House, Rabbul Aaliath = father of the family, Rabb = Lord, King, Owner, Conscious, Nourisher, Master proprietor, Rabbani = Learned man, Rabbul Qaum = Head of the state etc. "We all are "God particles" created in Allah's nature. All the qualities of Allah's nature are present within us, so to establish connection with Allah and be one with Him as a unit, we have to follow the straight Deen, but most of men know not"(30:30)

When I believe with strong conviction that my Rabb is - my father, my mother, my teacher, my wife, children, relatives, friends, neighbors, customers, employer, employees and my work, my environment, my society, my state, my country and the universe as my Rabb / Allah, what is wrong in it ?- What is the harm, if I perceive them as ALLAH / Rabb ? It brings in additional reinforcement to the relationship with the universe and humanity in general. If all individuals start revering each other as sacred, as "god” or as the part of a larger system (Rabb), then they will never feel insecure as no one would like to cheat "god" or the system if they believe it is their god. Everyone will remain loyal to each other, their feelings will be genuine feelings, their sufferings will be common sufferings of all, their work will be their worship, and they will never cheat any employers or customers or employees. They will be one and will feel solidarity with everyone. There won’t be He or She or My or Yours - there will only be "us" and "we" because WE and Us signify a single unit or a system, just like the
synonym of Allah the Ahad (أَحَدٌand there won't be any god (إِلَٰهٌ) but different systems all merged into one unit which is Rabb / Allah - our Rabbul Aalameen. But we must be diligent (Mutaqi), so as to recognize who is SHAITAAN amongst them.

Everything is interconnected. If we treat each other with respect, love, honesty and oneness there won’t be any disputes, because each and every system of life is sacred and humanity comes above everything. Obey Allah and obey the messenger is the same component of a bigger design. If we want the System (Allah) to work in our favor, we should all work in unison with a common goal and destination. This is the only formula for blissful living, prescribed by the honorable Quran.

TRADITIONAL TRANSLATION::

1 قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

2 اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ

3 لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

4 وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

1 Say (O Mohammed) "He is Allah, (the) One.

2 "Allah-us-Samad [Allah the Self-Sufficient]

3 "He begets not, nor was He begotten.

4 "Nor is there to Him any equivalent." - Traditional Interpretation

The traditionalists have miserably failed to understand and explain the term “Allah” only because they failed to understand the crux of the matter thus they have translated the meaning of Ahad احد as - The One. The rich Arabic language already has a word for one that is واحد (Wahid)? This clearly shows that they have simply copied the interpretations by their previous and current translators as the “Quran” aptly says they follow their ancestors even though they lack guidance (2:170) and justified their belief in monotheism. Islam is not about any theism; rather it breaks the old belief of worshiping / serving any theist. If the honorable messenger preached about permanent moral values, he wouldn’t have leave his town to escape from the people’s wrath. They could have easily accommodated his belief in monotheism. But he daringly proclaimed a phrase which no man before him dared to utter so openly and clearly. Those phenomenal words were “THERE IS NO GOD EXCEPT THE SYSTEM OF CONSCIOUSNESS.” These words were really dangerous in a society where multiple gods were being worshipped and revered.

The philosophy of the messenger was that the success is never given by God; successful are those who are diligent in their work or duties and those who understand the book of life. Such people are actually called Diligent / thoughtful or Mutaqi in Arabic and they work with the system, for the system, by the system and the system is with them.

NOTE:

The message of the book Quran has immense depth. I have tried my best to portray the essence of the surah without diluting its spirit. However if I have failed to convey the message properly it is due to my limitation of knowledge and understanding. It is I who will be the failure not the message. I also realized that I may have been repetitive in my explanation, but doing justice to the subject appropriately was my only concern.

After reading the above article the readers may think that I am leading them toward atheism but that is not the case. I am firm believer in God but my concept of God is different than the God of religion. I just wanted you to convey that the word Allah does not mean God, it’s a System of Consciousness defined as Samad. In chapter 3 we will discuss in detail who is our real God is and whom do we serve 24x7.

Don't make "God" an object of worship and confine him as an object. Allah encompasses everything. To confine Allah as an object of worship is a tremendous travesty of many religions. To confine God within the personal four walls of our whims and fancy is the biggest mockery of intellect.

God is everywhere. If you are satisfying your hunger you are serving your God...If you are helping your family you are serving God...if you are looking after the environment you are serving God...We have to be One with God constantly. We cannot remain detached with God; in fact God is our soul. We have to see divinity in every minute and infinite form, hence everywhere, if we don't understand our God how we will be able to SERVE HIM continuously. The secret of success is to understand "Divinity" - Blindly serving HIM is tantamount to idol worship and will yield no positive result...

The message is all encompassing and embraces all Mankind. No offense is intended to anyone. Respect and love to all.

3:2 اللَّهُ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

The status of Allah is not of ilah [the one which we serve or adore / deity] except / but He [conscience], the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence.

According to the book Quran Allah is not a definite article. Aḥadun أَحَدٌ in 112:1 is nominative masculine indefinite noun therefore the term Allah in this case is cannot be a definite article.
