AYAAT ARE SIGNS NOT VERSES

AYAAT ARE SIGNS NOT VERSES

The book Quran is consist of signs popularly know as ayaats. Ayaats (آيَاتٍ) are vibrant signs that are valid in present times. The word ayaats does not denote past history or old parables. Ayaats (آيَاتٍ) is a rational mark by which a person or thing can be known or understood.

Ayaat is a feminine plural noun and a derivative of vocative particle يَا - The word Ya is used to address or call that which is near and demand sincere attention. For example Ya Allah - here the word Ya signifies that we are calling Allah who is present and near us.

One cannot understand the message of the book Quran simply by just literal selective reading. There are live signs
(آيَاتٍ) in it which we need to decode or infer. Unless we understand the overall theme of its message, we cannot able to grasp the gist of those signs.
